As an Azure Cloud Engineer, youll lead the charge in migrating workloads to Azure, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal downtime and optimized performance. Youll configure and manage Azure resources, implement security best practices, and automate provisioning using IaC tools like Terraform and ARM templates. Collaborating closely with migration architects and DevOps teams, youll help drive cost-effective, scalable solutions while maintaining top-notch security. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the charge on migration strategies (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor) designed by migration architects.
- Leverage Azure Migrate, Site Recovery, and DMS to effortlessly migrate workloads to Azure.
- Ensure smooth migrations by preserving data integrity, minimizing downtime, and optimizing application performance.
- Configure Azure resourcesVirtual Machines, Storage, Azure SQL Databases, and networking components like VNets and Network Security Groups.
- Build and configure Landing Zones based on the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework for flawless environment setup.
- Apply security best practices, including Azure AD, RBAC, and encryption protocols, to protect cloud resources.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates for IaC-driven deployments.
- Optimize workloads with Azure Advisor and Cost Management to boost performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Set up powerful monitoring and alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to track health and performance.
- Troubleshoot issues during migration to ensure smooth and stable Azure environments post-deployment.
- Collaborate with migration architects, application teams, and DevOps engineers to guarantee successful migration outcomes.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies to stay aligned and on track during the migration process.
- Stay on top of security with proactive monitoring of IT security systems, reviewing security alerts and logs daily.
- Document every migration step, configuration, and operational procedure in detail for transparency and future reference.
Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering, specializing in network and application security, as well as security frameworks.
- Deep expertise in Azure core services such as Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, SQL, Functions, and App Services.
- Strong knowledge of Azure networking (VNets, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers) and security features (Azure AD, RBAC, Azure Key Vault).
- Hands-on experience with migration tools like Azure Migrate, Site Recovery, and Database Migration Service (DMS).
- Familiarity with cloud readiness assessments and application dependency mapping tools.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates for seamless deployment.
- Expertise in monitoring and diagnostics with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and third-party tools like Datadog or Splunk.
- Agile or Scrum experience, thriving in iterative delivery environments with a collaborative mindset.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Associate.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a knack for solving complex cloud security challenges.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities, always ready to work in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Solid understanding of securing public cloud deployments, particularly within Azure.
Other Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with advanced Azure services like Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Logic Apps, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, streamlining deployment processes.
- Deep knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes (AKS) for efficient scaling.
- Familiarity with Azure Cost Management, Azure Reservations, and FinOps principles to optimize cloud expenditures.
- Proven experience migrating databases and data warehouses to Azure, leveraging services like Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics.
- Mastery of advanced security services, including Azure Security Center, Sentinel, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or Azure Security Engineer Associate, bringing top-notch expertise.
- A mentor at heart, with experience guiding junior engineers to reach their full potential.
- In-depth understanding of application security patterns, including OWASP top 10, XSS, injection vulnerabilities, and more.
- Experience in DevOps, SecOps, and incident management, ensuring robust security practices across the board.
- Bonus points for the ability to code custom automations of security tasks, enhancing system resilience and efficiency.
Education and/or Experience:
For the Azure Cloud Engineer role, were looking for someone with a Bachelors degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience. Youll need at least 3+ years of experience in security engineering, with a strong grasp of network security, application security, and security frameworks. If youve honed your skills working with Azure services and have a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, thats a perfect fit!
