Job Description

Spartan Carrier Group is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Freight Broker to join our team at our Fort Worth location. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in growing our carrier base and managing a new book of business under our brokerage division. The Freight Broker will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods, negotiating rates, managing logistics, and ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of our customers product. Key Responsibilities: Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers and carriers. Understand clients' shipping needs and provide tailored solutions. Negotiating Rates: Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers. Work to secure the best rates for both the client and the carrier. Coordinating Shipments: Organize the pickup and delivery schedules. Ensure that shipments meet deadlines and any specific requirements. Coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and other stakeholders. Managing Documentation: Ensure that all necessary paperwork (e.g., bills of lading, contracts, and insurance) is completed accurately. Track and maintain records of shipments, invoices, and payments. Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues that arise during the transportation process, such as delays or damage to goods. Provide customer support and communication throughout the process. Monitoring Freight Movement: Track shipments and update clients on the status and expected arrival times. Ensure that shipments are compliant with regulations and safety standards. Market Research & Business Development: Research and analyze market trends to stay competitive in rate negotiations. Continuously prospect for new business opportunities and clients. Compliance: Ensure that all freight operations comply with industry regulations, including safety standards, permits, and insurance requirements. Reporting & Analytics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the brokerage's efficiency and profitability. Prepare and present reports to clients or management as needed. Skills and Qualifications: Problem-Solving Abilities: Proven ability to think critically and resolve challenges efficiently. Exceptional Communication and Customer Service Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, combined with a strong commitment to delivering superior customer service. Self-Motivated and Collaborative Team Player: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while also thriving in a team-oriented environment. Bachelor's Degree Preferred, but Not Required: A higher education background is advantageous, though not mandatory. Logistics Industry Experience is a Plus: Previous experience in logistics or related sectors is beneficial. Proficient in Software and Eager to Learn: Strong technical skills with various software tools, coupled with a proactive approach to acquiring new knowledge and technologies. Proficiency in transportation management software (TMS) or other relevant tools. Preferred Experience: Previous experience as a freight broker, logistics coordinator, or in transportation management. Familiarity with freight pricing, contract terms, and industry regulations. A network of reliable carriers. Working Conditions: Typically office-based with occasional travel to meet clients or carriers. May require after-hours availability to manage urgent shipments or address issues. Why Join Us?
