NOTE : This position is an "on call" and "at will" position with no set hours. Interpreters and translators are paid hourly based on requests only. All interpreters and translators must pass approved interpreter/translator assessment prior to start.
CLASSIFICATION: $27.81 per hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
*High School diploma or equivalent. Some college desired
*Strong literacy and oral language competencies in both English and target language (e.g., Spanish, Hmong, etc.)
*Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with students, staff members, parents and administrators
*Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations and economically disadvantaged families
*Basic math, computer and keyboarding skills
*Ability to maintain proper ethics for interpreters (e.g., objectivity, confidentiality, commitment, follow through, etc.)
*Willingness to participate Westminster Public Schools bilingual certification process
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
*Serves as interpreter/translator through high quality interpretations and accurate translations at building and/or district level
*Communicates, interacts, and works cooperatively & professionally with all school personnel and parents
*Ensures appointments are kept and performed on time
*Effective use of time management, organization and technology skills
*Fulfills all contractual and professional responsibilities
*Provides speedy turnaround time on translation projects (within 24 hours for small projects and up to 5 days for larger ones)
