Position:Software Engineering Intern Location:Huntsville, Alabama Duration:Summer 2025 Hours:Full-time, 20-40 hours per week (40 hours preferred) Compensation:$15-$20 per hour Job Description: Mission Driven Research (MDR) is looking for a talented and motivated college student interested in working as an intern to join us for a hands-on summer internship. As an intern, you will contribute to cutting-edge projects, including tethered uncrewed autonomous systems (UAS), autonomous search and rescue, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft autopilot design, and more. This is a unique opportunity to apply your software engineering skills to solve real-world challenges in an innovative and fast-paced environment. Roles and Responsibilities: Contribute to the development and testing of software solutions for UAS projects. Collaborate with our engineering team to support autonomous systems, including autopilot integration, control systems, and machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI) applications. Participate in designing and implementing software for simulation, data analysis, and autonomous navigation. Demonstrate strong coding skills and work across multiple programming languages and IDEs as needed. Engage in hands-on prototyping, debugging, and testing of systems. Make technical presentations to the MDR team, sharing progress and insights. Qualifications and Preferred Skills: Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree program, with at least two years of coursework completed. Strong coding background, with experience in Python and proficiency in multiple programming languages. Experience or interest in UAS, autopilot software, or ML/AI technologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex challenges. Application Details: Internship selections will be made around March 17th.
