SUPERVISED BY: Director of Clinical Services

SUPERVISES: N/A

SUMMARY: Responsible for giving support and education to individuals in recovery from a lived experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Inspires hope of recovery from mental illness, drug addiction and co-occurring disorders.
2. Shares lived experiences in an appropriate manner to foster connectedness and build relationships with peers.
3. Listens and shows empathy to peers' pain and isolation and supporting them as they move forward in recovery.
4. Assists peers in exploring options and overcome barriers preventing them from moving forward in recovery.
5. Assists peers in developing strategies to communicate with and advocate for themselves when seeking community resources.
6. Supports peers in implementing a relapse prevention plan in collaboration with the clinical team.
7. Engage clients in groups and individual support to assists peers in adopting a proactive role in their own behavioral and physical health.
8. Documenting client services in Electronic Records System.
9. Works with permanent housing residents in their natural environment to identify barriers related to employment in collaboration with Vocational Services.
10. Interacts with First Step Home's Vocational Educator on employment opportunities.
11. Work to attain the goals as written in job performance evaluations.
12. Attend program staff meetings.
13. Attend supervision with Clinical Director or other designated staff.
14. Work to attain the goals as written in job performance evaluations.
15. Abide by the standards as set forth in First Step Home's Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct.
16. Responsible for following all safety rules and safe health practices of First Step Home, Inc.
17. Pursue training for enhancing clinical skills and acquiring and maintaining appropriate credentials and licenses.
18. Prepare for and attend all clinical and staff meetings.
19. Comply with all agency policies, procedures and directives of immediate supervisor, the President/CEO and the Board of Trustees of First Step Home, Inc.
20. Responsible for following the Core Values of First Step Home, Inc.
21. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Two years absent of substance abuse
2. Active in sober support community
3. High School Diploma/GED
4. Ohio Certified Peer Supporter preferred or must obtain within 90 days of employment.
5. Felony convictions will be considered on a case by case basis. Must be finished with probation/parole and all court actions.
6. Valid driver's license
