Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal/Sr. Principal Database Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation team based out of Melbourne, FL . As a Database Engineer, you will support our Cyber team and contribute to the full product lifecycle for a software development and test environment. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional communication and collaboration skills, to effectively manage database systems and support the team’s automation initiatives. Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Leveraging your experience writing optimized queries for Microsoft SQL and Postgres. Developing robust automation solutions to enhance system efficiency. Assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems to meet business requirements. Utilizing tools such as Ansible and Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) to streamline and orchestrate complex database operations. Basic Qualifications for Principal Database Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of experience in engineering; OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 3 years of experience in engineering; OR PhD in a STEM discipline from an accredited university OR PhD in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 1 year of experience in engineering. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs, prior to the start of employment. Must possess a current DoD 8570 Level 2 Certification (i.e. Security+ CE or equivalent). Demonstrated experience with SQL and/or Postgres and managing/optimizing database management systems. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in implementing automation solutions using Ansible and MCM to support operational processes. Demonstrated experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python for crafting efficient automation scripts and executing database operations. Experience working with DevOps Processes and Cloud Infrastructure. Systems administration experience, to include Windows, Linux, and VM environments. Understanding of enterprise-level computing platforms involving virtualization, distribution and high availability. Salary Range: $104,800 - $157,200 Salary Range 2: $130,500 - $195,700 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
