Job Description
The Sales Manager performs a variety of functions to support Old National Event Plazas Sales Department. This role includes assisting with sales initiatives aimed at achieving the business development goals of the venue. The position focuses on, but is not limited to, sales and customer service functions in specified markets and networking to drive awareness of the venue and the events it produces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIRES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Actively sells the venue, provides sales support, and maintains client accounts in the wedding, social, military, education, fraternal and non-profit markets.
- Manages designated client accounts and performs sales functions including but not limited to cold calls, sales calls, venue tours, proposals, estimates, contracts and booking execution.
- Prospects, identifies, networks, and develops new market opportunity to increase bookings.
- Consistently engages with clients for both pre-event information and follow-up information to drive booking and re-booking rates.
- Works with venue culinary and operational staff to communicate event related details effectively, maintaining internal information flow.
- Completes sales and customer profile reports in accordance with company quality procedures.
- Maintains, tracks and reports on client post-event evaluations through designated CRM.
- Reports on growth opportunity as required to aid the Director in retargeting departmental goals.
- Assists the Director with setting sales goals for the Sales Plan.
- Carries out activities according to the objectives outlined in the sales plan, as requested by Director of Sales.
- Partners with Director to identify goals and opportunities for professional development.
- Achieves and exceeds given targets and revenue goals in accordance with the sales and marketing plan.
- Work interdepartmentally to plan and execute in-house events.
- Promotes the venue through industry participation including but not limited to industry association membership, community engagement events and sales presentations including partners.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ This position has no supervisory responsibilities for employees or interns in the Sales Department.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, or any other related field preferred. A combination of education and/or related sales experience, customer service, business development and/or account management will be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of sales, customer service, business development or account management experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Experience in the destination, hotel and/or events industry experience will be given priority.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- This position will require a people person! Daily direct, telephone, email and in-person engagement with social and non-profit clients is the responsibility of this position.
- Must possess a passion for cultivating lasting client relationships with a thorough understanding of the consultative sales process.
- Strong understanding of business development understanding and sales objectives.
- Attentive, service-oriented, friendly, helpful, and courteous to customers, colleagues, vendors, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Works well independently and consistently provides results without constant oversight.
- Ability to communicate effectively with varied groups and individuals both written and orally.
- Prioritizes organizational, planning, and inter-personal tasks.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience with CRM and sales research tools (Salesforce, Hoovers, Zendesk, Tripleseat, Pipedrive, etc.) is helpful.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work irregular hours in addition to normal business hours as needed.
- Travel within assigned market areas is required.
- This role operates out of the venue with remote opportunity as business lends.
