Description

Front Office Sports is seeking a dynamic VP, Multimedia to oversee, manage, and build its new centralized multimedia team, which will include social, video, and production.

This is a new role at an exciting time in the company's life cycle as we continue the transition from a single brand media company into a multi-platform, IP-led media company that delivers content directly to our audience across all of the major social and digital platforms, as well as our owned and operated channels.

This role requires someone who has a keen eye for emerging talent, has built and scaled audiences across all social platforms, and who understands the workload and focus that comes with working at a dynamic and fast paced media company.

This role will report directly to the CEO and will also work hand in hand with the EIC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and direct all aspects of the organization's multimedia content strategy including managing the leaders of the social team, video team, and production team
  • Work hand in hand with the Editor-in-Chief to develop 360-degree, multiplatform programming that will engage our audience no matter where they encounter our brand
  • Build and action the content calendar in partnership with the newsroom and sales team
  • Ideate and build new content franchises, formats, verticals, series, originals, and properties
  • Work hand in hand with the commercial team in building and delivering engaging, sellable video-first content
  • Manage all off-platform content distribution partnerships as well as seek out new distribution partnerships to get our content in front of as many people as possible
  • Manage a departmental budget for freelancers and other contract support on an as needed basis
  • Develop and execute strategies to support the company's commercial efforts including: growing subscriptions, driving event ticket sales, increasing pageviews, etc
  • Oversee company's slate of original content and franchises

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 12+ years of digital/social content experience including management and day to day tactical knowledge across social, video, and production
  • Previous experience managing teams and accounts in a high growth environment, preferably with a digitally native media brand
  • Willingness to get into the weeds on day to day production and execution as needed.
  • Tangible examples of building scaled audiences from scratch.
  • Proficient understanding of how to build and engage audiences on various social channels
  • Experience with building, managing, and executing short and long term content plans and strategies. Must have knowledge of and understanding of building and managing a dynamic content calendar
  • Experience building digital content plans for major sporting events as well as owned and operated events
  • Experience building operational processes and working in collaboration with multiple departments to satisfy company and advertiser KPIs
  • Previous experience building monetizable content franchises with content staff and athlete partners including video franchises and podcasts
  • Keen understanding of the business of sports, what moves our audience, and what we can build to drive deeper engagement and better monetization
  • Deep understanding of paid media and how to leverage it to drive growth and support sponsored content
  • Able and willing to travel, in addition to working non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Established connections/relationships with representatives at social media platforms
  • Excellent writing ability
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant software and tools
