About Us:

God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental/behavioral healthcare provider that specializes in trauma focused care for boys and men of color, ages 5 and up. Grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma, GRO translates research discoveries into evidenced-based treatments for behavior change.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating behaviors attributed to illegal firearm possession and the potential for aggression and violence. Treatment places heavy emphasis on cognitive, emotional and social skill development to reduce the propensity for violent related incidents. This role involves individual and group therapy, case management and crisis intervention. He/She will have experience with evidenced-based therapeutic techniques proven effective for behavior change such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Neurofeedback and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy . Additionally, the candidate should have experience with Texas Medicaid and Insurance regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to mitigate the lifelong consequences of incarceration and rearrests by addressing the mental health needs and causes of maladaptive behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessments and Diagnosing:

  • Coordinate intake screenings, mental health assessments, risk factors for reoffending and diagnostic evaluations
  • Assess emotional, psychological, and behavioral condition every 6 months
  • Develop and implement “informed” treatment plans based on assessments and diagnosis.

Therapeutic Services:

  • Provide individual counseling
  • Provide moderate to high-risk CBT groups.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Neurofeedback and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Psychoeducation and Advocacy

  • Educate participants about mental healthcare needs and treatment options
  • Build coping skills
  • Advocate for needed services and resources

Crisis Intervention :

  • Assess and manage risk, develop safety plans, and make appropriate referrals when necessary, during crises

Documentation and Reporting :

  • Complete progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation in a timely manner; ensuring compliance with state of Texas guidelines for mental health services provided.
  • Submit invoices with accurate billing and submission of claims in accordance with state Medicaid regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicaid billing codes, documentation requirements, and changes to billing policies to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor progress, document outcomes, and provide regular reports on program performance and client status.

Collaboration and Supervision :

  • Participate in required team meetings, case consultations, training and supervision as required.
  • Stay current with behavioral health research, trends, and diversion strategies to provide high quality, effective, treatment/services.

  • Ability to manage stress and demonstrate empathy and emotional intelligence when working with clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual, Fluent in both Spanish and English
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community mental health services, with a focus on crisis intervention, case management, or community diversion programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of Travis County's mental health system and available community resources.
  • In-depth understanding of Texas Medicaid billing practices and the ability to navigate Medicaid regulations for mental health services.
  • Experience working with individuals in crisis, including those at risk of hospitalization or involvement in the criminal justice system .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Mental Health Professional (LPC, LCSW, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals from marginalized or underserved communities.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of local diversion programs and community-based mental health resources in Travis County.
